Description

HAZWOPER 40 Hour Training is required for workers whose jobs put them in contact with hazardous substances. Our HAZWOPER training covers everything required in 29 CFR 1910.120, such as hazardous chemicals, improving the safety of workers and how OSHA regulations affect you.

This OSHAcampus.com course is ideal for workers involved in clean-up operations (both required and voluntary). It is also designed for workers in emergency response operations and those who deal with storage, disposal or treatment of hazardous substances or uncontrolled hazardous waste.

Trainees must have additional training in donning, doffing and use of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required where they work. They must also get 40 hours of initial training before their first shift at the site and at least three days of supervised experience in the field. The field experience is the responsibility of the employer/place of business.

Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the purpose of OSHA and its role in occupational safety.
  • Use Site Characterization to identify risks and measures to eliminate them.
  • Identify hazardous materials and the methods, symptoms and preventative measures of exposure.
  • Learn to use Material Safety Data sheets (MSDS) to identify hazardous materials.
  • Learn the materials, compounds and mixtures that present flammable, explosive, chemical and radiological hazards.
  • Learn the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) in limiting hazardous exposure.
  • Establish an effective Site Control Program to limit the risk of exposure to only those working in the hazardous work zone.
  • Learn to treat workers in the event of hazardous exposure.
