BP has released HSE Orientation and Training Requirements for personal working the Oil Spill Clean Up activities. BP requires contract Supervisors providing direction and management of workers to have the 40 Hour Hazwoper course as a pre-requisite to attending BP's instructor led "Contractor Expectations Course
It's all over the news. One of the worst oil spills in recent memory, the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has been called an environmental nightmare, and with good reason. Over 200,000 gallons of oil have been leaking into the Gulf every day. The lives of hundreds of wildlife species are gravely threatened by the oil spill. The clean-up effort is well underway but more needs to be done in order to contain the damage before the oil spill completely destroys the Gulf's delicate ecosystem.
You can do your part. In order to help, you need the right training. For most people, that means completing a 40 hour Hazwoper course that covers all of OSHA's standards for handling hazardous materials. This training is the best way to make sure that you stay safe during the clean up efforts. Many organizations are looking for hardworking professionals who are HAZWOPER-certified to assist in the cleanup effort. Now, more than ever, HAZWOPER training has become an essential tool in fighting environmental disasters such as the Gulf Oil Spill.
Contribute to the cause. When you enroll in one of OSHAcampus.com's HAZWOPER courses from May 1 through June 30, a portion of your course cost will be donated to Matter of Trust, a non-profit organization focused on creating workable plans to solve seemingly impossible problems. The funds they raise will go to acquiring the tons of hair, fur clippings, and nylons necessary to create booms to absorb the oil in the Gulf.
