Employment in the construction sector suffered huge losses during the housing-market collapse. Since then, the sector has rallied and millions of jobs have been created. Despite big dips and rises month-on-month from 2010 onwards, the outlook for employment in construction is positive. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects construction jobs to hit nearly 7.4 million by 2020, up from 5.5 million in 2010 and 5.8 million in 2013. The BLS Current Employment Statistics survey (Sept. 12, 2013) shows that 166,000 jobs were created in the period Sept 2012-March 2013, though no net change was recorded since, with August remaining flat.
